You know that scene from Star Wars... where Chewie, Han, Leia & Luke escape the storm troopers only to find themselves in a bigger mess. This week was kind of like that - lots of client needs, lots of family needs, lots of community needs - then the CRA turn up and want me to pay them all kinds of money... my own fault - I really don't mind paying taxes (stop snickering - seriously, we enjoy a lot of luxuries in this part of the world)... but I neglected them for a year or two and now, well - let's just say they don't have a sense of humour about these things.
I noticed that the birds were very active outside my window on the sunny days this week (they seem to love the cedars and junipers that grow just outside my office window) - so finally decided maybe Winter was actually going to give us a pass this year and allowed myself to believe that spring might arrive earlier than expected.  Just like Mother Nature though - lure you in to a false sense of security, then drop a deep freeze and 6" or so of snow on you... yep, Feb. in Toronto

Life drawing model was very good Thurs. night - maintained his pose for over 2 hrs. with only one short break. But still finding that if I have too much time, I really do tend to kill the quality of the sketch. Keeping looseness in longer drawings is something I'd like to continue to work on (see "Groundhog Day"). I know that worrying about the outcome is really counter-creative, but shaking that habit is tough. Really hoping the meditation class will help. The time passes anyway, might as well (try to) learn something...
