I love music, but rarely watch the Grammy Awards show (although I'm a total junkie for the Oscars - no idea why)... Dave was flipping channels and hit on the broadcast just as Jennifer Hudson was doing the tribute song to Whitney. They ran the roll of names of industry people who had passed away. I waited for Etta James name & photo, but it didn't appear. Ok, I heard that Alicia Keys and Bonnie Raitt did a tribute on the show for her - but really? I don't dispute Whitney's talent - but really? Maybe it was because Houston's death occurred so close to air time... I don't know though, sometimes there just seems to be a strange dismissal of people if they don't conform to some kind of odd notion about what physical beauty is. Etta had a lifetime of beauty and pain and soul in her voice. |  |
